President Trump is expected to make an announcement Tuesday about the future of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, DACA, which has opened a path for over 800,000 youth across the country to live, learn, work and contribute to the communities that they call home.
That’s over 800,000 youth who are spending this holiday weekend in fear that the lives and families they have worked so hard for could be stripped away Tuesday.
This is not inevitable. This is in our hands. Congress can take action - but only if we demand it.
The HOPE Act would provide conditional residency and a pathway to citizenship for thousands of youth who embody the American dream. We can’t leave their futures in the hands of this Administration and its white supremacist base. Already seven Republican congressmembers have opposed the end of DACA, with House Speaker Paul Ryan saying that legislation can be the answer to protect these young Americans.
On Tuesday we’ll mobilize voters to flood Congress with calls, demanding that they do right by our youth. Together we can turn back this tide of hate and show our youth who has their backs.
