How will autonomous trucks change the trucking industry? What will that mean for drivers and our communities? What steps should policymakers take to prepare?
Please join us for a breakfast briefing with Dr. Steve Viscelli, a sociologist at the University of Pennsylvania and author of Driverless? Autonomous Trucks and the Future of the American Trucker.
In the study, co-released by Working Partnerships USA and the UC Berkeley Labor Center, Dr. Viscelli finds that autonomous trucks could replace many of the best long-distance trucking jobs, while shifting the industry towards more low-wage gig jobs. However, with proactive policy steps, automation could instead deliver efficient freight, family-supporting jobs, and healthy communities.
Breakfast will be provided.
